Here is a list of common misconceptions of solar panels and solar power in the UK:
Myth:
Solar panels don't work in the UK - it's too cloudy and cold. They are ok for the meditteranean countries where it is sunny all the time but not here.
Mythbuster: Simply not true. In fact solar panels have been used and working in the UK since the 1960's.
We receive approximately 55% of the solar radiation of the equator, which is more than enough to supply solar power. If they don't work here why is the UK government providing grants to local councils to install them on local government buildings? Each square metre in the UK receives between 900 - 1200kwh of solar radiation each year.
